View Full Version : Crashing approximately every 30 mins.

Love the game, but every 30 minutes worth of playing it will hang.
This requires me to kill the process using task manger and restart the game.
It is a very annoying bug since I have to reload the level from the beginning and lose all progress.

I have done everything I can think of, but it still hangs.

Is this related to steam, or is it the game?

Is anybody else having this issue?

Hi - I'm having this same issue, however it appears to be when the game attempts an internet connection. My net connection is pretty bad, so often times-out - could be the game is stalling searching for a connection (usually happens after completed level).

Also - loving the game but the inability to be able to alt-tab out into windows (on Xp x64) is really annoying. This is a relaxing game, so alt-tabbing to browes or whatever would be very handy. Of course even better would be Windowed mode.

The inability to quickly quit the game is annoying too (unless I've missed a shortcut somewhere?)

Other than that though - I'm loving it, just bought it off steam today, working my way through the World Tour.

Lastly - a polite nod in the direction of The Incredible Machine I'm sure is required....and get the demo on Steam - think you are missing out there.

Hey there Inch, I was getting lonely in here :)

It would be great if the developers could let us know they are aware of these issues.

Can anybody speak German, is there any news on the German site?

For those of you that speak German, the most recent thread about this issue can be found here (http://crazymachines2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=185) (note that owners of the English version of CM² cannot login to the German forum, but can read there).

Hi Folks,

MrCoder, dunno if you got my e-mail to the account which appears against your profile but please dis-regard it!

I bought the game last Saturday and until today I have been unable to load it so I was unable to post here! :)

The game got no further than the 3 blue cogs at the beginning; even after leaving it for 10 minutes. I noticed the hard drive was flickering so I was wondering if it was still downloading over steam somehow. But it took so long and the fact that Steam said 100% completed threw me off the scent.

I just looked in Steam today and noticed it now said Crazy Machines 2 was 90% complete and was continuing to download!
Once that completed I double clicked it and it installed the PhysX component which it hadn't done before and now the game works.

Now to see if I experience the lag/crashing you are!

Cheers

Jake

I have found this (Translated with Google) (http://66.102.9.104/translate_c?hl=en&sl=de&tl=en&u=http://crazymachines2.com/forum/showthread.php%3Ft%3D185)

It says to send all Direct X Diaganostic files to exodus@crazymachines2.com

To get the required file do the following..

Click "Start"
Click "Run"
Type "dxdiag" (without the ") and hit enter
Let it load up and then click "Save All Information"
Attach the file you just saved to an email and send it to exodus@crazymachines2.com

Here is some copy & paste translated text to send with the email (Thanks PIGSgrame)

Thanks for the heads up!

It took me so long to write my last post I didn't notice your reply. Is the Google translated German text in my last post legible?

MrCoder, dunno if you got my e-mail to the account which appears against your profile but please dis-regard it!

Will do mate, hope you have a bug free experience!
Edit : Come to think about it they did patch it yesterday, the patch forced users to install the newest PX and OpenAL drivers.

Is the Google translated German text in my last post legible?Well, every German would at least understand it, and I think Exodus also speaks English. ;)

In correct German language, the translation would be:Im Anhang finden Sie eine Kopie meines DXDIAG-Berichts.
Ich wurde gebeten, diesen einzuschicken, um das Problem mit dem Absturz nach 50 Minuten beheben zu helfen.
Ich spreche kein Deutsch, und ich habe Google benutzt, um zu übersetzen.

This bug has been in the game for 6 months?

This bug has been in the game for 6 months? That's because only a few German users experienced this bug. I'm quite surprised that so many users the English version see it (as said in the Steam forum). As far as I know, an early German patch already tried to fix this issue, but did not remove it completely. The developers said it is rather hard to locate, because it only happens on some computers.

Nevertheless, I'm quite sure that the developers are still on it (they said so in the German forum), so I trust they will come up with a patch soon.

I noticed on my computer that when it started to hang it was using 1.7 GB of ram that only has happened once now out of the 3 times it has hung on me, the other times it was a reasonable 300 MB.

Its a very fun game. Can't wait for the Nvidia Physx drivers to arrive so I can try out those puzzles.

I'm having the same problem too. It's annoying, cos it usually happens just as you're about to solve a puzzle!

Perhaps this is a SEVERE memory leak?
Annoying.... Please fix.

Are the developers even reading the forums, or evern TRYING to fix this problem?
It appears not. The 1st post on this issue was in June 2008. It is now nearing the end of October....

This is the crappiest customer service I have ever seen.
I do not believe that they will ever fix it.
I will not buy any more of their games... which is a shame because I really like playing CM2. Its very challenging. Too bad the game company took our money with NO intentions of fixing this game-breaking problem.

i am also having the same crash issues as descibed in first post... it seems very random.. some additional triggers i might add... seems to happen for sure after a item is placed and rotated.. for example placing a paddle wheel on a axel and rotating it, will at times not allow rotation even tho nothing is blocking.. once this happens even removing the peice from the puzzle and then placing on a completely open part of the puzzle area and trying to rotate again results in all other previous peices in the puzzle to blink, and yet no rotation of the part. i find that after about a minute or soo of trying to rotate the peice with no success will give a "hard-crash".. as in alt+ctrl+del will not allow me to force quit as well as alt+f4.. which i would suspect a memory leak being i have to play around for a while after the game "goes buggy" but i also about every 30 mins or so get a game freeze which has seemed soo far to be completly random, sometimes when i start a puzzle sometimes when i try to load a different users solutions and yet sometimes after i think i have solved the puzzle and hit start.. i hope some things i have said will help in future patches.

:) I had the same inexpected crashes all the time until I checked the VSYNC option in the graphics. The game now is in it's best behavior.

I hope it will work too for everybody.

C'est la vie! :D
